SKIPPERED
CHARTER
|
|
|
|
| This is the ideal sailing holiday for those with little or no
experience of sailing. It is also a good option for more experienced
yachtsmen who are new to the sailing area. |
|
|
How does this type
of holiday work?
Put simply you charter (hire) a yacht and a professional
skipper to look after you and the yacht. The skipper will take you to the
destinations of your choice and advise you on the best places to visit.
Remember that in addition to making sure you have a
wonderful holiday the skipper is responsible for your safety - it is
sometimes simply impossible, for example, to leave a harbour in bad
weather.
To get the maximum out of the holiday you are always
advised to discuss your itinerary with the charter company and/or the
skipper once you have arrived. |
 |
| Which yacht
should you choose? The yacht you select will be determined by the size of your
party. Look at our cruising yachts explained page (click
here) to see what is available.
Be aware that it is normal practice for the charter skipper to be given
a separate cabin.
|
|
| How is a
skipper engaged? All good charter companies have
a number of professional skipper on the books. You simply request
a skipper when you book.
|
 |
| How much does
this type of holiday cost?
Mid
season charter with Greek Sails of a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 36i, which is suitable for two
couples and an instructor, is priced at €2200.00 per week. A skipper would cost
€910.00 for the 6 days of the cruise. In addition, fuel at €60.00, water
€10.00, mooring fees €15.00 and meals (for yourselves and the skipper) say €700.00. A total
cost of approximately €3895.00, or €973.75 per person (4 sharing). This
excludes flights to Greece the cost of which varies enormously and will
depend on from where you are travelling. Transfers from Athens airport
to Poros Island would cost approximately €25.00 per person each way.
